California

California
December 10, 2012

In an effort to substantially improve our lives 6 months out of the year, we are looking into moving to the west coast sometime in the somewhat near future. My lovely wife bought us a flight to sunny California, where we met up with friends and explored our hopeful new residence somewhere along the Pacific Coast. We hit San Diego, Oceanside, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, The Pacific Coast Highway, Los Padres National Forest, Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-sea, Santa Cruz, Oakland, Berkeley and finally San Francisco.

One thing we learned is that California is astoundingly beautiful, vast, and diverse. Both the landscape and the people stretch across many differing world’s. If you can’t find something you like in Cali, you aren’t looking. While we will keep our decision of where and when we are moving to ourselves, I can say with great confidence that the west coast is a paradise to those of us born and raised in the midwest and we are looking forward to the day we can call California “home”.

A special thank you to our friends who made the trip so special: Tyrsa and Eric, Tim and Brooke, Jill and Erika, Leila and Ricardo and everyone else we met along our travels out there; you made our trip so much more special than just a tour and snapshot.

Thanks, Judy! We had some incredible luck, in terms of timing and light on this trip. Made my job, that much easier.

Excellent pics Robb. Jia and I were just on that very trip last year, but had a Disney stop in there also. Jia’s totally sold on the SLO area, so we could be heading that direction in the future also (probably more around my retirement though.. hahaha). Anyhow, keep us posted where you end up, since my whole mom’s side of the family lives out there and we head out there every couple years. The coast is great, but the next trip out here you need to make it inland up north. Yosemite, Sequoia National park, Redwood forest.. Amazing stuff.

Robbie, I am not surprised that you want to go and live in California, these pictures sell the place to me also. I will wait until you move there so that we can visit you and go to see these awesome places. Great work. Hanka x
